I have come to discover that every time we decide to 'fix' a part of us, we are so focused on the brokenness, we forget what that part was fixing in the first place. To everything in life, there is a purpose, and down to the tiniest detail of our physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing was thought through by whatever supernatural force formed us. This is why the eyes are meant for seeing and nose for smelling and both purposes can never by interswitched. Adjusted to fulfill a different want, yes, but its purpose never changing. The first time i tried shaving my legs was a wonderful new and exciting experience for me. I felt as smooth as a fish, felt every drop of water slide across my skin, felt every little draft of wind, go straight into my pores and i couldn't have felt any sexier. Today i noticed something new. I looked lighter in the areas i had shaved, making every little scar, thin line of stretch mark, hair pore 10 times more obvious than the way they once were. I had inadvertently found a bigger problem caused by a little insecurity about what my legs should look like. The fact that i started feeling cold 5 times faster than i would have, only buttressed my point. Fixating on our problems ultimately forces us to create even bigger problems for ourselves without even realising it. Why not find out what loving every inch of your body would do to improve its purposes, usefulness in every way |
